RACE UPDATE, 11/10/20: Since registration opened, hundreds of runners have entered our event and we appreciate the confidence the running community has shown in our ability to stage a safe and responsible race. Still, we understand there is some hesitance on the part of potential participants who don't want their entry transferred to a "Virtual" race in the event Covid -19 conditions dictate the elimination of the "In Person" race. With this in mind, if the "In Person" race cannot be staged, all entrants of the "In Person" and "Virtual" events will have 100% of their entry fee refunded to their credit cards and the race will not be staged in 2021.
Of course we hope this will not happen but we want to assure the public that they will be not lose their entry fee or be saddled with participating in a "Virtual" event they are not interested in. We appreciate your understanding and hope this change allows you to join us on February 7, 2021, at the races!

Following is the current list of safety precautions to be implemented in order to limit our participant's, volunteer's and staff's exposure to the Covid-19 virus while attending our event. Every attempt will be made to maintain the safest and most responsible environment possible for all in attendance. This list will most likely be expanded as our plans develop.
If you feel you will have a difficulty abiding by these guidelines, we respectfully request that you do not participate. We appreciate your understanding that we must all cooperate to create the safest environment possible.
- One safety precaution will be avoiding unnecessary crowding at Packet Pick-Up before and at the event. Accordingly, we request that all participants pick up their race packet prior to race day at our extended Early Packet Pick-Up during race week at Runner's Den. The process will be simple and safe and you will be "In and Out" in no time, After you have entered the race, you will receive a registration link to schedule your pick-up time.
- Face masks will be worn at all times by all participants, volunteers and staff while at the event venue. The only exception will be that participants will not be required to wear their masks while on the race course but they must have their masks with them so they can put them back on immediately after crossing the finish line.
- Every effort to maintain Social Distancing by participants while at the event is requested. We understand that out on the race course, at times, this will be difficult but every effort will be appreciated.
- Wave starts, with approximately 50 participants each, will be used to get you going. Hard fenced "Starting" and "On-deck" pens will be used for staging with X's marked on the road to mark starting positions (6' box). Waves will be timed to accommodate the safe movement of participants in and out of the pens.
- Unfortunately, guidelines will not allow IHOP to serve their delicious pancakes at the event this year. We are all very disappointed with this situation, after all, it is the "Pancake Run". The production lines and lack of social distancing caused by the service lines present too much of a challenge to allow it. However, we have a solution. In place of our onsite food service, each participant will receive (2) certificates (instead of the traditionally offered (1), redeemable for a pancake meal at any of the (29) local IHOP locations. There will be a snack bag available as you exit the finish chute. Certificates will be valid for (6) months.
- Early packet pick-up will be extended from one to five days. Participants are asked to make every effort to pick up their packet prior to race day. A schedule will be published.
- Finisher medals will be available in sealed bags to be picked up by the participants as they exit the finish line area.
- Aid station water on the course will be picked up by participants off a long series of tables.
- To limit the crowds and Covid exposure, spectators and family members are asked not to attend the event. The public will be able to track participant progress throughout the event through the use of the digital Athlinks results app.
- To limit crowding around the video results boards, only the top three award winners of each age group will be displayed. All participants can check their personal results within minutes of finishing on the results app.
- The will be no official awards ceremony. Age group winners can go immediately to the Awards Tent to collect their medal.
- The 10K will start at 7:15am and the 5K at 9am. We ask participants to be on site, no earlier than 40 minutes prior to their scheduled start.
- After finishing the race, participants are asked to exit the venue to eliminate any unnecessary crowding. Remember, your finish results will be available on your phone almost immediately upon your finish. Virtual Race Options Participants may choose the option of competing in the 10K or 5K races "Virtually" when registering. Prior to Friday, January 29th at 5pm, any pre-registered "live event" entrant wishing to participate "Virtually" instead of "In Person" due to Covid concerns, may choose to do so. They will simply submit their finish time, from their "Virtual" race, run on a course of their choosing, no later than 1pm on race day using a link the race will provide. Their finish time and place will then be calculated and posted within the overall results. "Virtual" participants will be not be eligible or calculated for age group awards. Their packets with bib, shirt, IHOP pancake certificates (2) and finisher medal must be picked up at Runner's Den during packet pick-up race week. Packets/Medals cannot be mailed.
